PNG Power Limited Launches Replacement of Outdated 7-Digit Prepaid Meters in NCD and Central Province

PNG Power Limited (PPL) is embarking on a vital initiative to replace all 7-digit prepaid meters with more advanced 11-digit prepaid meters in the National Capital District (NCD) and Central Province.

This transition is necessary as the technology behind the existing 7-digit meters, known as the Standard Transfer Specification, has become outdated.

The company has commenced phasing out the older 7-digit meters in favor of the newer 11-digit versions, which align with global standards for the transfer of electricity and other utility prepayments. This upgrade aims to enhance service delivery for customers reliant on prepaid electricity.

“By moving to the 11-digit Prepaid Meters, we are ensuring that our technology is modern and efficient, allowing us to better serve our customers,” said a PPL spokesperson. “We encourage all eligible customers to register for the meter replacement process.”

Customers in the affected areas are urged to submit their registration forms at the Hohola Head Office or the Kwikila PPL Centre. Alternatively, they can reach out to PPL via phone at 324 3458 or through email at newconnections@pngpower.com.pg. The registration process is free of charge.

To register, customers need to provide the following information:

– Full Name

– Meter Number

– Exact Location of Property (including location name, section, and lot numbers)

– Reliable Phone Number

It is important to note that this transition only impacts EasiPay customers in the NCD and Central Province. Post-paid (credit) meter users, who settle their energy bills after usage, will not be affected by this change.

PPL is committed to addressing any concerns and appreciates the cooperation of its customers during this important modernization process.
